you get what you pay for bottom line,this camera is going back to the store,id rather pay a couple hundred dollars than have a 3rd grade looking vid. sorry saamsung i`ll pass.the control panel is horrible you have too stop recording to swith modes and when you do it disables other features.

This camera has many nice features, but they are almost useless to me because it fails its duty to deliver acceptable resolution.

<br>Before buying this camera from Fry's, I skimmed the web for info. Among other facts, I found that this item has a 680k pixel sensor. I naively guessed that, no matter how the sensore was used (ie: 4:3 or 16:9), 680k would allow video quality at least as good as local NTSC television broadcasts. Sad to discover, the resolution is about two thirds (seems like one half) that of a strong NTSC broadcast. I purchased an IEEE 1394 cable and used it to create a bunch of iMovie clips, but found that the stability of the computer display only made the poor resolution more obvious.

<br>I suspect that I would have similar complaints about any consumer grade DV camcorder.

<br>I'm also disappointed by the difficulty of finding usefull data about the actual resolution available from this, or any similar camcorder when connected to an ntsc compatible monitor, and when connected to a computer via the 1394 interface. Further research into the NTSC standard, such as Michael Robin's discussion of such issues as the Kell Factor, only increase my annoyance over the lack of quality of images, even in 4:3 (camera) format, compared to NTSC broadcast TV.
