Boss Audio D1200M 1200 Watt Monoblock Class D Amplier

I recently purchased a 600watt rms 1200watt max dual voice coil competion sub. A friend has one and it's awsome at 500watts rms. So I've been looking at amplifiers for a couple of weeks. What drew me to the D1200M was the price,I mean a class D for this kind of money! I wired my sub up parallel and ended up with 1.5 ohms instead of 2 ohms. So I e-mailed Boss Audio and asked them if this was normal and would it hurt their amp? They said this was indeed normal for a dual voice coil sub to run 1.5 ohms and that it not only wouldn't hurt their amp but that the amp would also produce 610watts rms at 1.5 ohms. Well that made my mind up right there. I bought one that day,610watts was perfect for my new sub. I installed the amp with 4guage power and ground wires,12guage speaker wire,a new capacitor,and I mounted it so that it gets good air flow around it.Everything like it should be as far as I know. It works fine at low to mid range power levels, but when you start to put the power to the sub the amps protection circuit kicks in and the amp starts turning on and off. I know it's not getting anywhere neer 600 watts because my buddy's is a lot louder at 500 watts rms. If it's kicking off in March hows it going to perform in the middle of summer? I'm really dissapointed! I don't recomend this amp for anything below 4 ohms for sure.
