It worked great until midddle of march.2005 i got it new in dec.15 2004 when the speaker when out and I could only use phone with earpiece. Tech could not fix it over the telephone so I ordered a replacement which took 7 days to get. Second Treo screen will go all white and needs hard reset now it will not let me call a 949 area code phone number ,it dials then it says dialing make a beep noise and goes to the dial pad will no let me make a call Until they fix their quality problems, I cannot recommend this phone. And, if you check on line you will find that many of these phones have the faulty speaker problem.. thats y i dont use the earpiece

Comments:
I upgraded to the Treo nine months ago. As a self-employed consultant needing to be able to get email on the go, it seemed like the perfect combination of features. It is great to have a device that is capable of doing my imperitive top 3: email, phone, calendar.

The first phone started experiencing display problems (a yellow blob that began to grow) within about 3 months and inexplicably stopped receiving email. I called for a replacemant phone and Verizon cheerfully sent one out. For the second time in months, I spent hours on the phone with tech support to get my phone set up to send & receive mail ( I cannot believe Verizon can afford to support this phone!). Finally, up and running for a couple months, until I started to notice problems dropping calls. Since I was traveling, I assumed for the first month or so that it was a coverage issue, until it became impossible to send or answer phone calls at my home. My son's Verizon phone had no problems in the same location. Display buttons lock up and no amount of pushing will make them work without a reset, then they lock up again immediately. I also discovered that it would receive mail, but not send. The last straw came when in my office across the street from a Verizon store dropping call after call after call. That's just cold...

After performing the software update, which I doubted was the problem and was proven right, Verizon tells me they can replace the phone but it will be at least a week (and hours more to get it set up again). Meanwhile I am due to travel and have no ability to take calls, make calls or send an email on the fly, and I have lost a days time over the last week trying to resolve this. I can't even connect long enough to check my voice mail. I look like an idiot to my customers. Given any choice (and a lot of noise on my part) I will replace this model with either the Treo 650 (not holding my breath) or another device entirely (preferable). I have two friends who are also on their 3rd and 4th Treo's respectively. It seems to function as a beta that got rushed to market without the benefit of troubleshooting issues.

Comments:
All i can say without swearing on this site is that this product is a complete waste of money. I've gone through 3 and this is my fourth, which is currently not working and have called many people to try and get answers for what is happening with this piece of C**P! The people at the store where i bought this from and they will not tell me anythingabout it and what i can do to fix this problem!

I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE!!

Product Rating: 2.00 star(s) Unending Technical Problems

Comments:
After 9 months and 2 phones, it still doesn't work. First, the Treo spontaneously reset itself 3 times, erasing all of the software purchased, downloaded, synchronized, etc. (Snapper Mail, Dataviz Documents to Go, Pocket Tunes). During this problem, I started dropping calls, being unable to place or receive calls (tapping on the answer button during an oncoming call would not pick up the call...which would end up in v-mail). I was unable to get a signal in DOWNTOWN Washington, DC (outside a building, on the street) When you are on a call and not using an earpiece, you are more likely to hang up on the call with your cheek just by rubbing the hang up button on your skin. I finally took the phone to Sprint and they couldn't find anything wrong with it - so I opted to dammage it out to insurance. I have a refurbished phone that today - after spending 2 hours reloading the software - froze on the screen of one of the software programs I loaded. I went out and bought a simple LG clamshell phone today for 50. Bottom line - Don't BUY IT!! I cannot believe that after spending 600, I cannot get my money back for a product that simply does not work.

Product Rating: 4.00 star(s) Treo gets better

Comments:
I had three Treo 270's. Two collapsed and were replaced under waranty and when the lid snapped off the last one I replaced it with a Treo 600. The first two 600's quickly blew up and were replaced just as quickly under warranty with upgraded 600's. The size is probably optimal for a Palm - any smaller and you could not use it!! The phone works great. My life is organised on the Palm 5.0 and my laptop pc using Outlook 2003. I use Snappermail for emails when I am away from my pc and I use all the usual - HanDBase - Quicksheet - Quickword -Avantgo etc. The MP3 is great with pTunes but sucks the battery quickly. I would (and have) recommend to anyone.

Product Rating: 5.00 star(s) Great Smartphone

Comments:
Finally, an all-in-one phone, PDA, mp3 player, voice recorder, email, Internet, etc. unit that lives up to the hype. The design is perfect, including a handy built-in keyboard that is much more functional than one would think. The Treo uses the Palm OS 5 platform so some older software that you may be using will not work with the smartphone otherwise, transferring data from an older PDA is quick and easy.

Treo felt it necessary to stick a cheap built-in camera feature into the unit with picture quality rendering it useless under most conditions. But, if you are looking to condense your cell phone, PDA, and mp3 player, this is the unit for you.

QuickTake:

Pros: Great Phone, Great PDA, Great MP3 Player
Cons: Don't purchase from Buy.com, cheap camera feature

Product Rating: 5.00 star(s) The Standard to Beat

Comments:
This phone/pda has it all. You can surf the web, check/send e-mail, take/share pictures, mp3 player, long battery life, AND it is a phone. You can sync your email/phone contacts directly from your computer. You can expand the memory with the SD expansion slot, or use it for additional programs. I love this Phone/PDA combination. It has been a great purchase for me.

QuickTake:

Pros: All-in-One design, Dependable, Send recieve E-mail on the go
Cons: Low-res screen, Low-res camera

Product Rating: 2.00 star(s) Treo 600 is great when it works but reliability is horrible

Comments:
I have owned a mobile phone since 1981 when they first came out in the DC area. I last owned Nokia and Palm Tungsten before ordering this phone in Dec. from AT&T. It worked great until midddle of Feb. when the speaker when out and I could only use phone with earpiece. Tech could not fix it over the telephone so I ordered a replacement which took 12 days to get. Second Treo would not hold charge and would continually and automatically do a hard reset. Ordered 3rd Treo which again took another 12 days to get. This one worked for less than a week when the speaker again went out so I could not hear phone conversations unless I used the earpiece. AT&T Wireless will send a replacement phone overnight except for Treo because PalmOne does not allow them to. It must be replaced by PalmOne. I have ordered 4th Treo and will wait to see if this one works. Until they fix their quality problems, I cannot recommend this phone. And, if you check on line you will find that many of these phones have the faulty speaker problem.
April 13, 2004: It has now been exactly 3 weeks since I put in an order for unit #4 and it still has not even been shipped. When you call technical advice it is transferred to the Phillipines where it is answered. All they can tell me is sorry. Service is horrible!
April 22, 2004 Update. After waiting more than 3 weeks, the online service repair showed another delay last week for 2 more weeks. After reading this, and being an attorney, I decided to call the Palm Legal Department in CA last Wed. I explained my story and was told that someone from corporate would call me. Corporate did call me the next day and put another order in for my 4th unit with shipping to be April 21st. Yesterday I went online and saw that the order to ship was somehow canceled without explanation. Needless to say I was extremely upset so I called Corporate on the special phone number they had given me. Corporate overnighted to me a new unit which I received today [4 weeks and 2 days after I put the order in for the 4th replacement]and so far the Treo 600 is working perfectly.

QuickTake:

Pros: Great smart phone when it works, excellent talk time, bright
Cons: Reliability. Have received 4th replacement
