Sony Ericsson Z310i Review - Mobile Phones
by Siddharth Raja
Review Verdict:
The Sony Ericsson Z310i proves that a budget-priced phone can still be stylish, however the handset is let down by a lack of multimedia features and will leave most users wanting more.

QuickTake:
Pros: Stylish design, Good battery life, Many customisable features
Cons: Small 14MB memory, No memory expansion slot, Poor screen and camera
Purchase a USB cable on line or from AT&T. Get the Sony Ericsson PC Suite software from the Sony-Ericsson web site (free download). This allows you to pull your pictures off the phone and send, save, or edit them as you do with regular camera pictures. You'll want to manage your pictures in this way since memory is said to be limited. PC Suite does a lot more if you want to pay for online connection services. It's not a great camera, but better than my old LG phone had - and it WAS a free phone after all. Also pictures will look much better viewed on your computer than on your phone. There are many-many free ring tones you can download and save on your phone too using PC Suite. There's not enough memory, I hear, to store many songs. Get an MP3 player for that. You can delete or save any you don't want on your phone which just take up space which apparently from other reviews is in short supply. I've heard that the phone might turn itself on if you power it off (never happened for me yet). Someone said charge it with power off in order to insure a 100% charge. I like the programmable functions (the four direction buttons are programmable shortcuts to whichever functions you use the most) I tried a bluetooth headset and it seems fine, but my other Motorola phone dies very quickly using bluetooth. Hope that's not true with this one. State law now requires some kind of hands free device when driving. Overall, I think its an OK phone. If you want whistles and bells, then you'll have to shell out some dinero. For me, I usually think of a phone as a phone, not a camera, music player, or computer. When I want those other things I get the right tool for the job. Texting? on a phone? who would want to do that? - I just call the person or email them from a computer.
