I purchased this about 1.5 years ago and it worked great for several months. Then I noticed the switch for the
auto on function stopped working. I called customer service and they asked me to reset the computer by
unplugging for 30 seconds. That did not work. It was under warrantee so they sent me a new one which would
only be covered under the original warrantee. The original warrantee was about to expire in 2 months. Well,
within several months (4) the new one did exactly the same thing. My sister-in-law's did the exact same
thing. Obviously there is a defective switch. I emailed customer service to see if there was anything that they
could do. I have not heard back. This is the last cuisinart product I will buy.
QuickTake:
Pros: Convenient, no carafe, stylish
Cons: Programmable timer stops working

Electrical Danger?

The unit leaks water on the counter, the unit shuts down periodically, then comes back on but the clocks have to be reset. A friend has the same model with the same problems. We do not leave the units plugged in for fear of short circuit and fire. We wonder if this is a defect and a danger.
Comments:
Well, at first we thought wow, what a cool idea not having a karafe to clean. Unfortunately it isn't as cool as you'd think. Found our when we had a party that guests had to go to kitchen to fill their coffee-cup, and then I went out and bought a karafe to pour the coffee in and bring to table. Karafe, of course, did not fit under the thing, so I had to do it cup by cup - what a mess.

Programming the thing to start at a pre-set time was nearly impossible to figure out.

And Most IMPORTANTLY - the coffee maker died - shorted itself out - last week. We've only had the machine for 2 months. And guess what? I'm glad it died to I could get rid of it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ONE MY FRIENDS.
QuickTake:
Pros: Sounded like a good idea
Cons: Hard to Program, Hard to See How Far You've Filled Your Cup
Comments:
While not having a carafe is kind of nice, the time it takes to carefully fill the resevoir and not have water all over the counter ruins whatever is nice about this coffee maker.
QuickTake:
Pros: no carafe to clean
Cons: leaks all over the place when filling, very frustrating
Comments:
I purchased this coffee maker about one year ago (October 2006)and had to bring it back because it leaked water from the holding tank. I exchanged it for the same coffee maker which died this morning 10/24/2007. I paid $99 and will not buy another Cuisinart.
Comments:
When you fill the reservoir, if you do not pour very slowly, the water will come out into and overflow the drip tray. I had this unit replaced under warranty (the first one quit powering on) with Cuisinart, and both pots do the same thing. Always have to keep a towel handy when making coffee, very frustrating.
QuickTake:
Pros: No carafe. Programable, hot coffee.
Cons: pour water in reservoir it comes out in drip tray/counter

QuickTake:

After we discovered that our Mr. Coffee machine had a defective heating element, so hot on the bottom of the unit it started to buckle the laminate on the counter top, my husband found the On Demand Cuisinart. The heating element is in the middle of the
