Have always wanted to fry a turkey. Received fryer as a gift. Bought a fresh turkey and brined overnight.

Washed, drained, and stuffed with towels to remove all surface moisture. Let set for one hour to bring up to

room temperature. Started heating oil [2 1/2 gallons]. So oil and bird were both ready in one hour. The

conrol operating instructions are confusing. The "start" button does not appear to start anything and is not

mentioned in the instructions. The temp sensor ran ten degrees high at start. Instructions called for 400

degrees for an electric and 350 degrees for a propane. I set at 375 degrees and it was perfect as oil stayed

in high boil the whole cooking time. [Actually 365 degrees since sensor was ten degrees high.] Once timer

mode was set, you could not see temperature mode! I'm also sure cheaper corn oil could be used at this

temperature instead of the more expensive peanut oil used. The turkey surface and inner cavity was dry

when inserted in the fryer. So I had no hot oil splash up at all. I put the lid on and let the bird cook for the

full forty five minutes for a 13.5 pound turkey. Breast meat was 162 degrees at 45 minutes and rose to

170+ after setting covered for thirty minutes to retain juices. Turkey was very tender and juicy and not

greasy at all. I cooked breast side up and the oil almost covered the whole bird but not quite. Was not a

problem in final look or cooking. After cooling, draining oil for future use and clean up was fairly simple.

Overall a solid four star product but you do have to wing it a bit on the operating instructions.
