Fortunately, Home Depot has a 90 day return policy on purchases of appliances. Out-of-the-box, this unit worked flawlessly and we were thrilled for the dehumidification at lower temperatures. After 8 weeks, the unit would no longer turn off at desired setting, and eventually simply quit working.
Hmmmm!
I hope my LG cell phone works better and longer.
We're back to our 15 year old Kenmore and just not running it in cooler temperatures.
QuickTake:
Pros: Attractive cabinet and easy to read display.
Cons: Died in 8 weeks. Wouldn't shut-off at desired humidity.
Comments:
I bought one of these a year ago from the big orange store. Lasted about one year, and then my wife noticed a funny sound. Thankfully I'm mechanically inclined and there's an internet. The fan motor went bad and LG's website is useless for getting parts, drawings, or any service in general. Fortunately, I found the replacement motor online for $29 to $39 -- so I guess I'll just suck it up and replace the motor myself. I would assume most would last longer, but keep your receipt.
QuickTake:
Pros: Works well
Cons: Only lasted a year

A humidifier that makes a difference and pays for itself
Comments:
I bought this humidifier and have been using it continuously for the last 4 to 5 months. I live in a condo that is on a slope of a hill. So even though I get spectacular views, it attracts a lot of moisture and my electric bills during fall and winter months were almost $150 average. A friend of mine suggested using dehumidifier and I took his advice, did a ton of research, checked out various models at Home Depot and Best buys and finally decided on LG LHD45EL.

I have to say that compared to the other dehumidifiers in the market this one looks awesome -- many of my guests have asked what it does and complimented the sleek silver look with back-lit digital reading. It looks like it can be a huge computer server or audiophile amplifier, or something similar.

Setting up is a breeze -- it is not loud, although I would not try to sleep next to it! It works miraculously -- and I am not kidding. You get to see it collect buckets of water over a matter of days. It keeps the air dry, warm and carpets seem fresh, not cold. It is also great to know that there is no chance of getting mildew or catch a cold. I have recently bought a second one and placed it one in the garage. It keeps al my stored boxes and books in the garage dry and worry-free.
I have recommended this to several friends and some of them have bought this and similarly happy.

It has three setting and shuts itself off very reliably one the container fills up to a certain height. Once you drain the water and place the container back it restarts itself using the same setting as before. After almost five months of continuous running it has not given me a single error or problem. The result: This year, I paid about $60 per month average in electricity bills for the same months as last year! I would strongly recommend this unit to anyone.
QuickTake:
Pros: Very efficient, cut electric bill to third for same season
Cons: A bit heavy to move around, but coasters help
Recommended: Yes
