At first the Whirlpool dehumidifier worked well. It was super quiet. The hose was hard to attach to the unit but with a lot of plumbers tape, it was possible to get a tight fit. Two years later, I am miserable. It is so noisy that it keeps me up at ni

We bought the unit to dehumidify the basement. It worked ok for 3 years and then would run and run for hours but not pull any moisture out of the air. VERY noisy motor. 5 yr. warranty on compressor, condenser and evaporator but good luck trying to get it serviced. A piece of junk. Our old dehumidifier circa 1979, worked just fine for over 15 years. They just don't make 'em like they used to.

Knowing nothing about Dehumidifiers, I bought this one because of the Brand and price, ($179 @ BestBuy). I was surprized at how quickly this unit begins to draw water out of the air! Here in FL, that's important. However, I had to locate it as far from my Bedroom as possible because it is very noisy and gives off a lot of heat. I notice my A/C runs more often when I have the unit on. Fortunately, you can move it around with very little effort.
