I've been shooting my kids' baseball games for years. This lens produced some of the worst photos I've ever taken at one of their games -- they simply were not in good focus and were under-exposed even in bright sunlight. I don't know if it's because it's such a slow lens or what, but I've achieved much better results with my Nikkor 70-300 VR lens. I was hoping to replace my Nikkor 18-200 VR and 70-300 VR lens with this lens, but it was not up to the task and I returned it. Images were not sharp at the edges/corners, and they exhibited a great deal of chromatic aberration/purple fringing. This was my first experience with a non-Nikon lens, and I was not impressed.
