Product Rating: 4 star(s) Canon EOS Rebel XS - A Review of the Canon EOS Rebel XS Digital Camera

Comments:
The little brother to the critically acclaimed XSi costs two hundred dollars less, but is almost identical in specs and build.

Review Verdict: Like other cameras in its class, the Rebel XS' Live View created a four-second shot-to-shot lag, including a pause as the screen goes dark. Without Live View, there was virtually no shutter lag.

Product Rating: 5 star(s) Canon EOS 1000D

Comments:
A decent enough addition to the legendary EOS range, but there are too many competitors at this price.

Review Verdict: To begin with, there's no spot-metering facility. A bigger drawback than this, however, is that when you shoot in RAW mode rather than JPEG, the available burst rate falls. In RAW mode, it halves to 1.5fps - barely more than a decent digital compact can o

Product Rating: 3.6 star(s) Canon EOS 1000D

Comments:
The Canon EOS 1000D reflects the narrowing gap between compacts and digital SLRs. With its lightweight build and 10.1-megapixel CMOS sensor, the dSLR is an unintimidating camera. Will its compact-style features pack enough punch to sway buyers from other

Review Verdict: The 1000D feels like what it is: a cheap, basic dSLR. It's perfectly competent, produces good quality pictures and has all the controls that keen photographers will want as they gain experience. But while Canon's used the opportunity to improve on the old

Canon EOS Rebel XS

Comments:
The EOS Rebel XS is Canon's newest entry-level SLR. Based on the Rebel XSi, it's marginally cheaper and less powerful, with a resolution of 10 megapixels versus 12 for the XSi, a smaller 2.5" LCD screen. It arrives into an already crowded marketplace, ful

Review Verdict: The Canon EOS Rebel XS is a decently priced, entry-level SLR that scored well across our entire panel of tests, especially with regards to low light and dynamic range. It has Live View mode to help ease point-and-shoot users into the more advanced world o

REVIEW-CANON EOS 1000D camera

Comments:
: This 10 megapixel camera is the first SLR from Canon to break (just) the $1000 barrier. The construction uses a lot of obvious plastic, including for the lens mount. It is small and light and is well suited to small hands. Ergonomics are just so-so. The

Review Verdict: : Stupid gimmicks apart, this is a good way to buy into a system than will grow with the user's expertise. And when the time comes to move up to a better body the Canon lenses will still be in the bag to use on the new camera. And as decent lenses general

Cons: : The "live view" is ridiculous. The user guide recommends manual focussing in live view and yet Canon claim that they include the function because compact camera owners trading up to a DSLR demand it. But when they find that by holding the camera at arm'

Canon's newest entry level DSLR - 18/9/08

Review Verdict: The Canon EOS 1000D is Canon's response to competitors' models - think Sony A200 or Nikon D60 and you're on the right track. However, a response is one thing, but it's certainly not the conclusive answer that Canon should provide. The so-so kit lens, the

Canon XS: 10.1 Megapixels, Live View, and a Lower Price

Comments:
The Canon XS sells for $200 less than the current XSi, but it retains most of the EOS XSi features in a new 10.1 megapixel body.

Review Verdict: When Canon launched the original Digital Rebel in 2003 the $1000 price point for a digital SLR was ground breaking. In the 3 generations since the original, Canon has added more and more features to their entry DSLR and the price has actually dropped. The
