Unless you dont mind buying another $500 camera in another year, or maybe less, I would not buy this camera. Do a google search on E18 if you dont believe. I kept my camera in a protected pouch, never was dropped, excellently cared for; and boom broke on

The camera was used very infrequently for the first 6 months of ownership. After I began using it regularly the lens mechanism broke. I have since found out that it is a defect that Canon refuses to acknowledge. The camera is now garbage. What a big waste

I wish this camera had more optical zoom and I could take pictures faster. But I like the fact that I can take 3 minutes of video recording with sound. No need of having a video camcorder.

Examined several "pocket" digital cameras before purchasing the Digital S400. Reviews of the camera were positive and I've always been impressed with the film versions of the same camera. Purchased the unit and haven't regretted it. Pictures are sharp
