Product Rating: 4 star(s) Canon PowerShot SD500

Comments:
The 7.1-megapixel digital camera is a smooth operator, but its dearth of manual features and high price make it an expensive choice.

Review Verdict: At six ounces (without batteries), and about the size of a deck of cards, the SD500 is a true pocket camera. The 2-inch LCD is bright and easy to see, even in afternoon sunlight, and it brightens automatically when shooting in low-light conditions. Its bu

Comments:
The $500 Canon PowerShot SD500 Digital Elph is so small it fits easily in just about any pocket, leaving you no excuse for not having a camera handy when those once-in-a-lifetime baby/puppy/soccer shots happen. The resulting photos weren't our taste teste

Review Verdict: The SD500's weakness is its image quality. The photos looked good overall, but in our taste tests they didn't score as well as some other compact point-and-shoots in the same price range. For example, the Fujifilm F10 significantly outscored the SD500 in

Comments:
The Digital IXUS 700 offers a whopping 7.1 megapixels; that's a resolution of 3,072 x 2,304 pixels. If you belong to the 'more is better' brigade, you'll be slavering at this thought, but take note that ...

Review Verdict: Canon's Digital IXUS 700 is another step forward for the company, and another good advance. Canon needs to be more generous with its bundled SD cards, though, and we'd like to see some effort put into increasing optical zoom as well as overall image size

Comments:
is a 7 megapixel digital camera with a 3x zoom ââ'¬â€œ 37~111mm film equivalent. The lens is reasonably fast at wide angle ââ'¬â€œ f2.8, falling to f4.9 at maximum telephoto

Review Verdict: : Once again dpexpert is impressed with the construction quality and picture taking ability of a small, highly automated camera. The IXUS700 is the sort of camera that can be easily carried everywhere and be ready in a second to snap the once-in-a-lifetim

QuickTake:

Pros: : The IXUS700, like its competitors in this price range, seems to be so fast in its responses that we may be able to say that shutter lag is now just a bad memory. We had no trouble capturing the decisive moment.
Cons: : Picture noise is obvious at ISO400. This is no doubt a consequence of squeezing 7 million light receptors onto a small area sensor. The noise effect can be tamed with noise reduction software, but it is still a nuisance. ISO400 is not particularly fast
