Product Rating: 10 star(s) Easy for digital novice

, May. 9, 2008
Comments:
I bought this camera after reading customer reviews on many different cameras. The camera is very easy to learn and use for a digital novice like me. The camera is used for everyday pictures, and also used to photograph our military veterans for display at our local Veterans Museum. The digital view finder is an added plus on sunny days, as the sun tends to wash out the LCD. But this would happen on any LCD. The zoom works great, and focus' quickly. After using full body 35mm camera for years the smaller size takes some getting used too, but I am adapting nicely.

QuickTake:

Pros: Easy to learn, zoom is very good, digital view finder a plus.
Cons: After using full body 35mm for years, the smaller size takes some getting used to.

I'm just an amateur & it fits my needs perfectly, with results that are as good as anyone {except perhaps a pro &thats questionable} would want to expect.

QuickTake:

Pros: Simple for me to use & fulfills all my needs
Cons: Get fowled up with settings, but thats my fault

Product Rating: 8 star(s) An outstanding camera for the price - near professional.

Comments:
This series of Kodak cameras has an excellent Schneider lens with 10X zoom. They are compact and light in weight, though this leads to some blurring due to my somewhat shaky hands. The video features work very well. Wish that I could give shutter speed or aperture priority to control depth of focus and shakiness. I haven't seen a better camera for the money.

QuickTake:

Pros: I bought to replace a similar camera with lower resolution and no image stabilization.
Cons: Lacked the excellent manual of the earlier model - many features, but not well doc'ed.

Comments:
Excellent value for a low end ultra zoom camera. Clear photos, relatively fast focusing, very fast startup. Many preset scene modes to choose from to eliminate guesswork on what combinations to use. Bright light action shots are fantastic.

QuickTake:

Pros: Great zoom and image stabilization
Cons: Chews up batteries

Product Rating: 3 star(s) Kodak EASYSHARE Z712 IS

Review Verdict: A solid, but not exceptional, advanced ultra-zoom camera, Kodak's Z712 IS offers a big zoom backed up by optical image stabilisation. However, its pictures aren't quite as good as some of the competing models on the market.

12x zoom and optical image stabilisation for under £180

Review Verdict: The EasyShare Z712 IS is Kodak's top-of-the-range super-zoom, and it has an impressive specification. Build quality and handling are good, overall performance is well above average, low light performance is exceptional and the optical image stabilisation
