Nikon's new D3 and D300 have finally been announced, much to the delight of Nikon users and adoring fans, but really, it's Nikon who's the most relieved to have finally made the D3 and D300 official. Now, Nikon finally has what it needs to make a huge ste

12.3-megapixel SLR

Review Verdict: An excellent value-for-money SLR with impressive image quality and handling. Picture quality is comparable to some of the £2,000+ pro SLRs on the market and there are enough new features and improvements in performance to justify an upgrade from the...

Nikon D300 digital SLR product review - taster

Comments:
After our concerns with the D100, Nikon seemed back on track with the D200, but a new sensor and processing engine could mean things are different with the D300.

Stellar Shooter

Review Verdict: . The D300 fits nicely between professional and beginner digital cameras. Complete manual control and excellent images make it a great backup for pros or an upgrade after intermediates outgrow their starter DSLRs.

Product Rating: 5 star(s) Nikon D300

Comments:
The Nikon D200 was a truly great camera that offered professional performance at an enthusiast's price. Even now, its 10-megapixel CCD sensor can easily hold its own compared with similarly-priced rivals, and the robust build quality was - and still is -

Review Verdict: There's no doubt that the image quality is stunning, but the D300 is also heavy, pricey and sophisticated to the point of being overpowering. And, with the arrival of Nikon's full-frame pro SLR, the D3, can you justify investing in the smaller DX format (

Product Rating: 4.5 star(s) Nikon D300 | Our Review | TechRadar UK

Comments:
The D300 is a professional camera capable of producing superb images and it feels like it's been hewn out of granite. But it's also heavy and expensive - and now overshadowed, perhaps, by Nikon's own D3

Review Verdict: Live View modes also raise the spectre of dust - a perennial problem with digital SLRs anyway. But if the mirror's going to be up and the shutter open for extended periods of time while you compose the shot on the LCD, dust spots become much more likely.

Review: Nikon D300

Comments:
With a stunningly sharp LCD, excellent image quality, and interface improvements, the D300 is a top contender in the mid-range digital SLR market.

Review Verdict: Great review--for someone who is still hanging on to film photography, rangefinder cameras, lens, etc. and is reticent to give up on it, the info was spot on. Possibly more $$$ than I would drop on a new digital, but many of the newer, smaller cameras are
