Product Rating: 3 star(s) A mixed blessing

I really love to adjust the ISO and have gotten great pictures. The quality of the built-in flash was also a great surprise. In addition, I like the sharpness (if the focus works properly) and the more even distribution of light in the pictures than I was used to with my previous digital pocket cameras. However, there is one problem that I haven't quite resolved -- the focus. Either the picture is taken and out of focus OR the camera/lens has trouble with focusing and therefore is disabled. In retrospect, I should not have bought lens and camera body from different sources, because it's now hard to know where to turn to.

QuickTake:

Pros: When in focus, great image quality
Cons: often trouble with focusing in two ways: either the picture is taken and out of focus OR trouble with focusing and therefore disabled

Product Rating: 10 star(s) A serious camera for serious photographers

The D300 takes some getting used to as you have to make a number of decisions about settings that lesser cameras make for you but that is the fun & challenge of working with it. You can set up programs with different settings for different types of settings (landscape, portraits, etc.) as well as a personal menu for settings you change regularly so you don't have to sort through the other menues.

QuickTake:

Pros: Very flexible, wide range of adjustments, a pro-level camera, many controls on the body & not buried
Cons: Not for inexperienced users, no "program" modes

Review Verdict: The D80 is one of the best cameras on the market, offering exceptional image quality and a bevy of features. The default lens has some chromatic aberration issues, but aside from that, we have no issue recommending it.

Nikon joins the entry level digital SLR party and makes it even harder for you to choose.

Review Verdict: The D80 is another superb camera in Nikon's increasingly impressive DSLR range. It is expensive and complicated, but it is also extremely well made, incredibly versatile and capable of fantastic picture quality. However it is surrounded by some very stron

Comments:
Though it's priced higher than Canon's Digital Rebel XTi and Sony's Alpha 100, the Nikon D80 delivers a lot of extra bang for the buck. In fact, users who are considering the Canon EOS 30D will want to take a close look at this camera.

Review Verdict: Users of the D70s will be impressed by the D80's new design. It's significantly smaller than the D70s, yet still very comfortable to hold, thanks to its textured finish, large handgrip, and sturdy metal body. Experienced Nikon shooters will feel right at

- Take an air pump to Nikon's D50 and start inflating, then surgically remove ? and adjust ? a large dollop of kit from the Nikon D200, mix in a smidgen of the Nikon D70s, stir briskly and you get ? a Nikon D80.

Review Verdict: Excellent handling and build, superb performance from the metering and the focus set up add to the confidence the camera builds as you lift it from its box

Nikon D80 Hands-on Preview

Comments:
Two and a half years ago Nikon announced the six megapixel D70, their first affordable enthusiasts digital SLR, it proved to be a very popular camera and strong competitor to the Canon EOS 300D (Digital Rebel). Just fifteen months later Nikon revealed the

Review Verdict: The D80 slots nicely between the entry-level D50 and the semi-professional / professional D200, clearly based on the D70 design but also different enough to be seen as a completely new model. It features a ten megapixel DX format CCD (the same we presume
