Product Rating: 5.00 star(s) Excellent SLR digital camera.

Comments:
This camera is like Canon's AE-1. It has features found only on cameras costing much much more for a bargain price. It is an excellent camera for both the serious amateur, and for the professional.

This camera is built solid. It has a metal alloy body, and actually feels like a real 35mm SLR camera. With resolution greater than 8 megapixels, it rivals old fashioned film.

Will work with the Full lineup of Canon EF and EF-S mount lenses.

The 18-55 kit lense is adequate for the amateur.

The Fully automatic mode lets amateurs take great pictures, while the creative and manual modes give the serious amatuers and professionals great leeway.

The next step up is the 5D, still a bargain. It has a full frame C-mos sensor, an advantage over the 20-d, but it is more than double the price.

The 20D gives you a LOT of camera for the money.

I am a photo major and do commercial photography mainly product shots but am getting into portraits. The camera has helped me progress in my career. For Child Portraits the Rapid Fire function helps a lot because its as quick as the emotions that can change in a child. For Commercial Product Shots my customers have been extremely impressed, they love how you can shoot on the fly from a laptop view the picture and do on site table top work with ease. For wildlife it works great with the purchase of some of the canon lenses. I have one of the larger more costly ones and am impressed with the speed. For flower shots, even with the lens that comes in the kit, it worked well. Focused very quickly, extremely vivid colors and you can see more detail on a blow up then you can holding the flower many have told me. I also love the durability of the camera. I have not dropped it but wouldn't be so worried if I did. Its very comfortable to hold, and when you get pictures printed at stores it turns heads. I cannot wait to make enough to upgrade to the higher end cameras from canon, but this works great for now!!!

Pros: Excellent Camera
Cons: None found so far except cost

Product Rating: 5.00 star(s) Great prosumer digital camera...

Comments:
Well nothing much to say about. Just read the reviews of professionals and see the sample pictures. It should do it. Definetly professional grade and affordable digital camera. But Canon Lenses are expensive. You spend more money on lenses than the camare (body.)

Maybe the only annoying thing is, its high shutter release noise. Some says it's OK, but to me it's noisy. Extremely fast. I mean it. Fast Fast Fast. AND you will definetly need high capacity and extremely fast compact flash cards to use this feature. No visiable noise at high ISOs. I have mistakenly used ISO 1600 for my daylight pictures, you cannot even see any noise patterns at all. Last but not least, its battery life is great. You just forget about the battery. It lasts for days, for shoots, ...

Don't buy with the lens kit (18-55mm), It has the cheapest and worst canon lens ever. Just save $100 by buying Body, and add $250 - or more to buy a better lens. A zoom lens should do it. You can also shop for Sigma lenses for Canon. They are much more affordable and have the similar picture quality (sharpness, contrast, and detail.)

QuickTake:

Pros: You get professional grade pictures.
Cons: Noisy, and lenses are expensive... :(

I'm writing this E-Mail out of frustration since I have been greatly disappointed about the supposedly Canon higher quality CMOS sensor used in the 20D.
A month ago I bought a Canon EOS 20D and I found out that, in all the pictures I took, especially the ones with a clear back ground like, for example, a nice blue sky, there was a dark spot showing up.
I tried to swap lenses, verified there was no dirt on the sensor but the spot was always there. Consequently I finally concluded the problem was with the CMOS sensor it self.
I sent the camera back, got a replacement and AGAIN I got the same problem. A new spot, smaller and in a different location than the previous one, still shows up in the test pictures I took with the new camera.
As I wrote at the beginning of this E-Mail I'm extremely disappointed by the CMOS quality of the two cameras I received. Given the 20D costs $1300+ I was expecting something much better.

QuickTake:

Pros: Its fast
Cons: Poor CMOS sensor quality/uniformity
