Canon PowerShot S3 IS

I have been a Canon "fan" for the last twenty years. However, I will not be buying another Canon camera due to the fact that my less than three month old Powershot S3 IS is a "write-off" due to excessively humid climatic conditions.

<br>I took my "new" camera with me to Mexico in July this year. After five or six days of usage in the damp/humid climatic conditions is seized up - kaput - no go!

<br>On my return to Alberta I sent the camera to CANON CAMERA INC. in Calgary, Alberta. I was sure that CANON would honour the manufacturer's warranty and either repair the camera or replace it - I was wrong! After waiting four weeks for some news of my camera, I telephoned CANON CAMERA INC. in Calgary, to ask for a progress report. I was told that the camera had suffered water damage, was "beyond repair", was not covered by warranty, and it would cost me in excess of $400 to replace the unit. (the current price of an S3 IS on the internet is a lot less than $400). I wonder when CANON CAMERA INC would have let me know that my camera was "beyond repair" if I had not telephoned them - perhaps never?

<br>I am now surfing the net and looking for a new camera - it will NOT be a CANON!

Excellent zoom, add on lenses make it versital. Would recommend it to anyone wanting a excellent point and shoot with the option of setting manual settings. Takes fantastic indoor action shots with no blur. Picture quality is fantastic. have not had a blur yet and it is used daily. anyone that has problems taking quality pictures with the S3 should probably consider a lesser functional point and shoot. Probably not for the beginner but is still very easy to use. Very affordable and great value for the money.

I love my powershot camera. I like the long zoom it has, and I like being able to change the settings. It has so many features that I haven't even discovered some of them yet. You can change everything about it, even what type of lighting you are taking the picture in. It has many of the photo settings that the more expensive cameras have, for a much more affordable price. I love that the LCD screen folds out, flips over, and can face in basically all directions. It's a great camera for all kinds of picture taking, and all skill levels.

The price was right but the picture quality is at times very poor. The picture at times is blurry with some pixelation in the picture. This monitor does not handle the shading or darker areas very good at all. If I could do over I would spend the extra money for a better picture. Very disappointed at this time.
