Just take it out of the box, charge the battery, and shoot pictures to your heart's content -- in almost any environment. The only difficulty I had was at a night-time baseball game shooting pictures without a lens hood under high-intensity lights.
The Coolpic 8800 has the best resolution of digital zoom I have seen. I'm just glad I bought the right one, the first time.
QuickTake:
Pros: Friendly automation, variety of controls, great clarity
Cons: Difficult to access custom options or settings.

Great Travel Camera

We bought this camera for an ecocruise to Costa Rica and Panama. We have some of the most fabulous pictures! The moveable view screen made it especially easy to take odd shots without having to tie your neck in knots. We bought an underwater houseing kit for it and even got really good underwater shots. The camera adapted well to all lighting situations, including night time going through the Panama Canal. I left it up to my husband to read through the book to discover all the little extras and then teach me. Once you learn everything it can do, it is an amazing camera. It is also very easy to transfer your pix to computer to create your own slide shows.
QuickTake:
Pros: Really sharp pictures and videos, moveable screen
Cons: Takes a while to learn all features
