I have it for almost one year, and it has been accompany my travel all the time.
Great design and model, small sized 3 MP camera, weather proof casing, easy to use.
Now, here are my opinions about this stylish camera. It has Durable metal casing, except the plastic side cover (for USB and xD Picture card) very fragile, and it was broken after 3 months.
Excellent picture quality for outdoor shot, colors are deep and bright, pictures are sharp and clear. But not for indoor shot, I could see the pixels on the picture's dark area, very rough.
And taking the macro shot is not as easy as Nikon cameras, very difficult to get the focus on the close object. And about movie recording feature, I think Olympus should add capabilty to record the sound, more than low quality QuickTime .mov file which only can take no more than a minute. Or it could be better if the movie recording is not time limited, but media capacity limited, so it will records much longer depending on your media capacity.
QuickTake:
Pros: Stylish, weather proof, easy to use, bright color
Cons: Poor picture quality for indoor

I was somewhat pleased with my camera until last week, the camera would not work. Short beeps, fully charged battery. Olympus said to send it to them with a check for 150 (just to look at it)! My warranty ran out just 10 days before and they would NOT honor it. Not happy with Olympus customer service.
Comments:
Outdoor pictures are excellent with regard to sharpness and color. Fits in your pocket easily. Controls are convenient. A lot packaged in a small camera. Keep a second charged battery just in case. Should get a 128mb card. Remote is very useful and easy to use.
QuickTake:
Pros: Size and outdoor picture quality. Works with Windows 98SE
Cons: Color and Picture quality indoors using the flash poor.

A quality, portable and easy to use digital camera
Comments:
The olympus stylus 300 is simply a quality product. First of all i will be travelling a lot and wanted something small, durable and had a variety of features. Stylus is all three. While larger than the canon elph line, The stylus is still very compact and fits great in my pocket (it is about the size of a cell phone). I also like its all metal and splash proof design so i dont have to worry about using it on the beach or in different weather. The features are also great, the 3x zoom is perfect for its size, the LCD screen is excellent, there is a shot selector that allows different scenes for different situation (landscape, night, portrait, etc.) My only wish is that you could manually set the night exposure (for star pictures, etc) but the nighttime shot is good for city streets, long exposures ,etc. You might want a tripod for no flash night shots though. My other only qualm is that the lense cover, while easy to slide and use, leaves a small space on the side for dust, sand etc, to potentially get onto the lense. I haven't had a problem yet though. Picture quality is excellent, computer transfer is easy and if you have a problem there is a toll free line thats open until 10 at night. (I used it b/c i had problems with my drives on a computer, the gentleman was very helpful and the problem was solved right away) In summary, a great, durable and portable camera.
QuickTake:
Pros: Small, Durable, easy to use, features, 3x zoom, customer sup.
Cons: No manual night shots, larger than Cannon elphs, lense cover

After tons of research, I narrowed was down to Nikon 3100, Canon A70, Sony DSC-P8. Most sales people were pretty worthless until I met one who knew this stuff backwards and forwards. He said Olympus Stylus 300. I was crushed. What? AA batteries dont work in cold weather. Get lithium. Beautiful pictures. Not complicated. Connects to TV/PC. Love it.
QuickTake:
Pros: Can use television as view finder if you want

I just bought this camera for my wife as a birthday present. I was first turned on to it because it is an Olympus (so picture quality is above average) and the fact that it is one of the very few true metal cameras out there in this price range. I also thought it had a sexy-feminine design - so I would not be accused of buying it for myself :-)
Since acquiring it, I have begun to admire the simplicity of its functionality. If Olympus just went one step further and added sound to the movie mode, this camera would stand out in every possible way from the competition.
QuickTake:
Pros: metal body, sleek compact design, functionality, lithium bat
Cons: No sound in movie mode

This camera does everything and more, for those who start out. I went on vacation and was thrilled with it. The battery life is great, and the outdoor pictures were perfect. The indoor shots needed a little tweeking, though. With less than desirable light, the auto settings could not make up it's mind about the flash, or if the close up mode should be selected. Often when the flash went off it over exposed the picture. Some nice moments were lost while trying to play with the settings. (I would reccomend the camera to a friend, but don't expect brain dead photography.)
QuickTake:
Pros: size is exelent. great outdoor pics
Cons: auto settings for indoor pictures could be improved

This camera is not water resistent and olympus knows it
Comments:
I bought this camera specifically for it's water resistence. The first time it got slightly wet it stopped working. Olympus will not repair it under warranty and is charging me 186.00 to repair the camera even though the moisture exposure was well within their advertised guidelines. I would not recommend this camera if you are after weather resistence because it does not live up to it's advertising...
