Pentax K10D Digital Camera Review
by Alex Burack
QuickTake:
Pros: Design and feature set built logically around photographers' needs, Dedicated RAW button, Mechanical image stabilization (Shake Reduction), Dust Reduction, Sensitivity Priority, Aperture and Shutter Priority mode, Program Line is clever and practical
Cons: Autofocus system is loud, noisy, and at times, just irritating, Autofocus isn't as accurate as we had hoped, AF assist illuminator built into the pop-up flash (not on camera body), LCD is not as sharp as competing models; displayed colors are oversatur
The first feature of this camera that attracted me was the ability to use my 30 plus year old Pentax SLR K-mount lenses. With the "Shake reduction" built into the camera body all of the old K-mount lenses benefit from the feature. Unlike other digital cameras in this or higher price ranges that put the shake reduction feature into the lenses themselves, this camera puts the feature in the camera body itself. This feature alone gives the user a lot of lens selection options not available to owners of cameras with out this feature.

<br>I have owned my camera for several months and I am still learning to use the many features that this camera offers. It far exceeds my expectations. The owners manual is a little short on detail concerning how to use all the features. But if you read and re-read the chapters dedicated to each feature, you can eventually figure out how to use them.
