JVC XV-N650B DVD Player

I bought this unit to play MP3 folders burned to DVD on my wife's birthday party and play my Divx collection on my TV. The music played OK and then the problems started.
<br>This thing Locks up and skips at random parts while playing Movies.
<br>When I noticed it I thought it was a problem with the recorded DVDs.. unfortunately its not that simple.
<br>I have tested Store Bought DVDs as well as full backups recorded on DVD+R and DVD-R. I have also tried DVDs loaded with Divx, and Xvid video files encoded at different bitrates and with both AC3 and MP3 audio.
<br>Good news... They all played.
<br>Bad news... They all skipped and locked up during playback.
<br>I seem to be able to eject the disk, or play with pause and fast-forward to get it going again but the glitch always comes back and this is simply unacceptable. Other users have reported this problem.

<br>I have found no firmware update and I just found out this pile of junk has a 90 day MFG warranty which just expired.

<br>1) Don't buy this
<br>2) While shopping have a few DVDs at hand to test type of media you need to play.
<br>2) Check MFG Warranty Length and terms yourself, don't trust sales guy.
<br>
<br>For now I'll use the SPDIF audio out on my PC and order an ATI video card with HDMI video output. Should have done that all along and avoided this $80.00 paperweight.
