I've been so impressed with the quality and ease-of-use, not to mention the economical price of the LVW-5005, that I've purchased two more as gifts. The recorder will play virtually any DVD either commercially-produced or home-made. I've not had any pr
QuickTake:
Pros: Inexpensive, easy-to-use, recordings are very good quality
Cons: Takes longer than expected to initialize new disks
Comments:
I have owned two LITEON recorders(I won't own a third). The first a LVW5005 & the second a LVW5005x.
The first recorder wouldn't eject diskettes.
The second recorder stopped recording to DVD-R(although it can still read a DVD I had previously recorded.)
The setup changes back to default settings when the on off switch is depressed.
The unit overheats after a brief time period.
The remote control stopped working.
Email to tech support received no response.
Attempt to download a firmware upgrade didn't work.
Bottom line: If you want an inexpensive unit that malfunctions after a short period of time, whose support is non existant, right on with LITEON!!!
QuickTake:
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Happiness with low price is short lived.
