Great picture on this portable DVD player, and it has simple controls. You won't need to read the manual! Speaker volume is only ok for quiet places, otherwise you will need headphones or speakers in the car. I plugged in my computer speakers (with their own power; batteries or AC adapter purchased separately)and the sound is awesome. Some of the plastic slide switches are cheaply made and I am hopeful that this unit lasts at least a couple years. A good buy if priced competitively.

I recently purchased the PDV-0700 at Best Buy for 179. It's like having my own minature movie theater. Easy to learn the features and run. Other than tiny speakers on the front panel this little powerhouse is excellent. The newer formatted wide screen features fill the 16 X 9 screen while older ones still show black bars above and below the movie (no real fault of the player though). I bought a carrying case and plan to get portable speakers, but am quite pleased with the purchase. When using a headset the Dolby Stereo is quite impressive. I even used the player at the beach and the screen was visible in broad daylight (although I used the carrying case as a partial shade).

The only real drawback I can say is there is no way to know how far the lithium battery has drained until it dies. I was watching a movie when Low Power flashed on the screen and the system went blank. They warn against overcharging the battery (or it will shorten the lifespan) but this can be checked by the colored light connected to the battery pack (red = charging, green = fully charged).

All in all this will be very handy on any long trips or when away from the home. For a 7 screen in this price range I consider it a best buy (I did extensive reviews prior to purchasing the PDV 0700.

Not sure where some of these awful reviews are coming from but mine has a manufactured date of August 2004 and is clearly a winner.

I PURCHASED THIS FOR MY 11 YR OLD DAUGHTER. IT WORKED WELL FOR THE FIRST 3 USES WITH HEADPHONES(THE SPEAKERS ARE POOR). AT FIRST THE PICTURE QUALITY WAS FINE, BUT NOW AFTER LESS THAN 6 USES THE PICTURE TURNS WHITE. I NOW HAVE TO SHIP THE PRODUCT BACK TO POLAROID TO BE REPAIRED.

I was a little worried after reading the reviews but this player is okay so far, no problems..plays well..came with bunch of accessories. I hope it doesn't break..I will update. The sound could be louder..but for the size..wat the heck do you expect?

The picture was okay..for you pay for you get your moneys worth.

Yes, it's a cheap price,now I know why. Exchanged once for broken lid after 2 months, tried to exchange again because kept jumping in car. Also, paint has scratched off on all sides of player from being in case! Only 4 months old, looks like it's 4 years old.

close latch cracked off after one plane trip, 2nd time trying to use, it must have gotten bumped alittle bit then it would withstand in my backpack because about 10 mins into the movie the picture started to jump and wouldnt stop even of shut off or reset or disk removed, I was going to throw it away and not even carry it home but when i charged it up and turned it on to see if i was going to pack it or throw it out for the way home the son of a gun started working it again and i had to lug the piece of crap home but i am now looking at reviews to replace it, i don't even think its ebay worthy at this point with the cracked latch. Waste of money!

I purchased the PDV-0700 at Best Buy for 229 in May 2004. I am absolutely impressed with its overall performance. I took it on a road trip the end of May 2004 and it played just great. The clarity of the picture is awesome. I like the fact that it came with all the cables you need to hook it up to a hotel television if you want or you can keep it in the car. I also liked the idea that it played CD's too. My car does not have a CD player in it so it was wonderful to be able to play CD's without having to use the cassette player to play them. The only thing negative I could say about the player is the sound. It does not have the greatest of speakers on it. However, I have hooked it up with speakers that I used on my CD player and they worked just great with it. It also hooks up to tv's easily so you can use the tv's speakers. The hook up to the car was also easy and I used the car's speakers. It also goes camping and fishing just fine. We took it out on the river with us to fish! You just can't beat it for the price. I would highly recommend this player for anyone.

This DVD player does the trick.

Our initial intent of this product was to keep our 3yr old at bay on his first airplane ride and boy was it worth it. We have since used it as an alternate DVD player for one of the other TVs in the house and it served its purpose.

The pros to this product is picture quality and the sound....if you wear headphones. The picture looks much better after you update the internal settings to the high picture quality. It is quite easy to use and it comes with all the necessities.

The cons to this product are definetely the sound quality if ou wanted to watch it without a headset....but in the places you would typically be using the player, you would either have to have a headset (airport, airplane, bus, etc...) or you can use the audio on the TV that it is hooked up to. The other thing I noticed is that the plastic is somewhat cheaply made. The first unit I bought, I noticed that the Dual Headphone Jack (which is supposed to come standard and is a necessity if you have more than 1 child) was missing. I was not going to return it forthat reason because you can buy those pretty inexpensively. I did have to return/exchange it because after lifting the screen all but 3 times, the casing around the hinge cracked.

It is a DVD player which is an expensive piece of equipment, so the durability factor will always be low, but that was pretty bad. I purchased mine at Best Buy which has a program wher you can buy a 4 yr warranty. I highly recommend it.

Takecare of itand it will serve you well.
