Review Verdict:
The predominant feature is the widescreen display, but there are a couple of other "extras" you do get with the Nuvi 650. An MP3 player is included, although without an FM transmitter don't set your bar too high when it comes to good quality sound at high

This seems to be a larger version of the Nuvi 350, and I'm glad that I spent the extra $70 for the larger screen display. I've never heard anyone say that they wished their screen was smaller. All the functions were easy to understand, and the unit can be used pretty much out of the box with little study required. I used the unit for a one-hour known trip that was fairly complicated and it performed as well as I could have asked. No real flaws that I encountered. I have no use for any of the functions other thsn navigation, so I can't comment on them.

As with any GPS system, the accuracy is only as good as the data put in to it. Map data continues to evolve in my region, and any streets less than a year (at least) old may not show up. Anyway, I would never dream of using a GPS unit as stand-alone navigation in a strange location. A map and a brain are still required, and there is still no substitute for local knowledge. Example: The map program only sees a four lane highway, its doesn't know if it's filled with traffic lights or is a pleasant country drive.

One possible slight negative: There is no way to enter a lat./long. point that I could discover. Some hotels in Europe now list these for use with GPS units, when country street numbers are imprecise or non existant.
