I got this for my husband for Christmas. I have used it more than he has as I travel for work. It is much better than carrying around lots of maps and keeps destinations in it's memory so you don't have to enter it again. On one or two occasions, I lost sattelite connection which I think was due to cloudy conditions or possibly being in a mountainous terrain. The reception did come back quickly though. My husband updated it right after he bought it and there was no fee so I don't know what other people are referring to. All in all a great buy as I got it on sale for $129.
QuickTake:
Pros: much better than carrying around maps.
Cons: sometimes poor sattelite connection on cloudy days

We travel 8k-10k miles a year towing an RV. The greatest benefit of this GPS to us is knowing which lane to be in when exiting a busy freeway or when making turns in cities, as changing lanes isn't always easy with a 60' long unit. Nowhere in the info with my unit, nor on Garmin's website could I find a mention of geocaching with this unit. If someone else referenced geocaching with this, that's not the fault of Garmin. If you want to geocache, buy a handheld with topo maps. I've used GPS's in play and work, from the least expensive to the multi-thousand dollar units for many years. This is as good as any in it's price range.

I received my first one a year ago and at Thanksgiving, bought a second one. It is very easy to use and pretty good for the most part. Several street addresses are not very accurrate. For instance, they can be as much as 1/4 mile off and having you look on the left side of the street, when the house is actually on the right side. I bought the Map Update, and was discouraged to find local hotels and restaurants that have been around for 2-years are not even in the update. Nor are some new roadways.

1. Focus your review on the product. Try to avoid comments that are off-topic.
<br> The StreetPilot c330 is a great unit for door to door guidance. . . accurate, simple functions, comfortable viewing. Discovered the British English is more pleasant than the American English instructions. The window mount is awkward for arthritic fingers trying to adjust "fit" to severe window angles.
<br>
<br>2. Explain why you do or don't recommend this product.
<br> I don't recommend anything to anyone. But I'll answer any question and share my experiences with the unit.
<br> What is the purpose of WAAS navigation?
<br> GREATEST DISAPPOINTMENT: learning that the unit does not lend itself to geocaching, yet it is referenced in geocache articles.
<br>
<br>3. Stick to the facts.
<br> Hmmm--those are the facts. A "help" function would be useful. I would like to see packaging state that "THIS UNIT DOES NOT SUPPORT GEOCACHING".

No good piece of junk. It worked for 17 days, then died. I took it back to
<br>Wal-Mart. They said Garmin would only guarentee it for 15 days, and that I
<br>had to contact Garmin. I wrote them, a month later they wrote back and said
<br>buy a new one. It's a No good piece of junk and Garmin knows it, if they only
<br>guaretee it will work for 15 days. DO NOT BUY THE GARMIN STREET PILOT.

I paid $199.99 with free shipping at Circuit City.com. First unit had to be returned due to open kit repackaged with broken driver disc. The new unit was easy to set up and use. During my first test drive of about 20 miles the unit had 10-12 occasions of poor reception or dropped signals and took up to 1-2 minutes to recover. If I had not been in my home area I would have found the device to be virtually worthless. Also, I know the routing was not "fastest or shortest way" but it did reprogram quickly when I deviated from it's route. The screen presentation was good for a device of this size and the voice helpful. Haven't mounted it to windshield yet. Would have a difficult time recommending this GPS.
QuickTake:
Pros: Easy to set up and use; good screen and messaging
Cons: Poor receptions or dropped satelites;questionable routing

Very nice for first GPS. But beware of cost to update maps
Comments:
Pros: Have used this primarily for business and it has been a Godsend. Find destination, gas stations and hotels when traveling in strange areas, as well as resturants, etc. Has a couple kinds of maps. Don't like how it zooms in every time there is a turn coming up, but can switch to a different type of map. Gives awsome ETAs. Doesn't always pick the most efficient route.
<br>Cons: Have to pay to update maps ($70). Immediately after the unit notified me that the maps were a year old and outdated, the unit failed to even turn on for an entire day. Certainly looks like a programmed stunt to scare a person into buying a map update. Worked okay after one day, though. Will not buy another Garmin because of this, though.
<br>A lot of screen glare. Suction cup sticks so well to the windshield, you cannot get it off without leaving part of the suction cup behind (and of course, it doesn't work after that).
QuickTake:
Pros: Accurate ETAs. Finds gas stations, hotels, resturants.

Purchasing the StreetPilot 330 was the best money I've spent all year. I'm in outside sales and spend my entire day looking for new addresses. My family has given our StreetPilot her own name and I think she is now my new best friend. If you're worried about spending the money on a GPS- it's worth every cent! Not only do I use it every day in my career, but now my weekends are a lot more interesting as well. I don't even think twice to hop in the car, type in the casino or race track or Chicago loop and go for a drive. These were places I'd never previously travel without hours of studying a map.
<br>
<br>Spend the money and invest in the Garmin StreetPilot C330!
QuickTake:
Pros: Touch screen, loud audible, easy to navigate, high accuracy
Comments:
My unit is 10 months old. I have been enjoying the easy to use routing and turn-by-turn directions. We are now finding that some roadways have been reworked and restaurants have changed hands. We looked for a mapping update on Garmin's website and they had one. They sent us the CD Rom free of charge. Once we loaded the software onto our PC, an unlock code had to be obtained from Garmin... For $75! We didn't see that one coming. We'll just deal with the outdated, 10 month old maps, then see what Tomtom or Magellan has to offer. The Garmin will then become part of the pavement.
QuickTake:
Pros: Easy to use, right out of the box
Cons: Garmin wants $75 to update 10 month old maps
