Comments:
Read the pro and cons of the 7100 GPS and its competitors from both paid journalists and customers. What struck me about the 7100 was the features for the money, especially the lifetime traffic reporting, some cool graphic presentations, and the positive comments made by the customers. Didn't place much value in the comments made by the journalists, because they had tested preproduction models and I have been in the business long enough to know that preproduction models/beta models are just that - the product is not ready to be presented to the general consumer and it has bugs that the manufacturer needs to iron out.

<br>Anyway, Navigon fixed the bugs and when I received the 7100 in the mail, I, as the big kid I am, immediately opened the box to fine everything that was promised to include windshield mounting, car electrical adapter and household electrical adapter. Besides how good the GPS was, reading the customer comments, it was clear that if I were to have a hassle free first experience with the GPS, I must follow the startup instructions provided with GPS (It is also a good idea to read the owners manual before getting started too.) After following the initial startup directions, I mounted the 7100 on my windshield and away I went on a road trip. The traffic alerts were really great, it help me to avoid some road construction. I also took a few detours to see how the 7100 would correct and each time it found the optimum route to get me to my destination. The graphics and voice were clear and the interchange graphics are a nice feature. The short of my comments is that, if you are considering buying a GPS, put the Navigon 7100 on your short list.
QuickTake:
Pros: Impressive performance
Cons: Windshield mounting can be a bit difficult to use.
