I use it for recording music on a P4 2GHz machine in my studio. The only draw back is the heat and hence the need for an efficient but quiet fan (and don't we all need a better one of those!). I've no complaints though, no matter what HD you buy there will always be noise and heat, oh well...
QuickTake:
Pros: Fast, stable, reliable.
Cons: You need a very good quiet fan

Western Digital Service Sucks

Ive heard good thinds about their drives, but never have I experienced such AWFUL service. After weeks of backorder and finally my purchase of a Seagate 60 GB 7200 instead, (very nice), I have waited two weeks for an RMA from WD. No way to complain to WD, only here, where I only hope lots of potential customers turn away.
QuickTake:
Pros: Never installed. Glad I didnt.
Cons: Terrible service

For a Smooth process of install, uploading and downloading W.D is the HD to buy. This is a reliable HD for my Apple G4 OSX system.
IBM would be my second choice for a Speedy HD. W.D is just to fast for the others to keep up.

when i purchased my new computer i had it built to spec. when it came to a hard drive, there was no question, i had to go with WD.
my previous computer was built the same way, and i got over 4 yearsd of use out of it, not very many can say that about there computer, and the main data starage device was a 6.5 gig WD. so i went with the 40 gig special and have ben happy with it sence day one. the only issue with it, and all high speed drives, is that you gotta keep it cool. a coupple of 7 fans, and you will have speed, and stability for what ever your application is, from music or vidio editing, to large data files, this is the hard drive you want.
QuickTake:
Pros: speed & stability, this drive cooks!
Cons: use fans to keep it cool, as this drive cooks!
