To make a long story short. Bought a new HP, thinking it would be faster than my old Dell. It wasn't...so I bought a new Hard drive, Western Digital, with 8 mb of cache. My uncle told me the 8 mb of cache was very important. Boy was he right. This hard drive is A LOT faster. I first installed one in my old Dell. I was so happy, I replaced the hard drive in my brand new HP with one also. They were very easy to install. Total install time, including opening computer, taking old drive out, installing new drive, reloading operating system...averaged 1 1/2 hours for each computer. Which for me, with my lack of technical expertise, was very fast. Hope this helps. Be sure to get the one with 8 mb of cache
