I was surprised to find such a good quality sound for such a reasonable price. There have been many who find fault with the sound, wires, durability and the like but I have to disagree on all points. If the sound quality is poor, then either they have not inserted the buds correctly or are playing poor quality sounds in the first place. The wires are wires and won't do what each individual wants them to do. It's up to the user to secure the wires so they won't pull the buds out of the ears. These are delicate electronic components and not meant to be indestructible. I find no fault in their construction or quality at all, especially when there are buds available for $500. Comparing just the value for dollars, how much better can $500 be to these $30+ buds? So if you want a great sound for little money, buy them. If you don't know how to take care of your stuff and need something more indestructible, get a motorcycle helmet with speakers inside that won't sound half as good. :-))

The guy from Tasmania must have gotten a bad set. I have no problem with mine, and feel the sound is very good, and I've tried many over the years that can't compare. The only problem is the covers could fit the speaker a little tighter. Replacement covers are hard to find.
QuickTake:
Pros: Great full range sound, comfortable during sweaty workouts
Comments:
The iPod earphones are crap...everybody knows that, I wanted to upgrade to a decent set...I assumed SONY midrange earphones would do the trick.
The MDR-EX51LP are in fact worse than the IPod units; they're tinny with no bass. I might have a defective product; they sound like a $2.95 pair from the liquidation shop!
I paid AUS$79.00 for these & will return them for a refund; funny how the packaging is designed so that having opened them, there's NO WAY the packaging can be restored to "as new" condition.
Also the leads are "clingy"; they bind too easily. The iPod earphones have that right at least.
regards,
Angry of Tasmania
