I had the same problem as reviewer peterose. When I placed the extender near to the existing router (as instructed) the auto install did not work. When I did what peterose suggested - take it to the deadspot in the house and then auto install there, it

The belkin 35$ job solved the web dead spot problem, though not by their book. You're supposed to press a button on the extender placed next to the original router until it locks signals. The you reposition extender near the bad spot and merely plug it i
