Sony PS-LX250H fully automatic turntable
by Steve Guttenberg
Review Verdict:
Sony's nifty PS-LX250H turntable is a great way to get into vinyl and can be used with any receiver, HTIB, or computer sound card.

QuickTake:
Pros: Two-speed automatic turntable; push-button controls for start, stop, and arm lift; cast-aluminum platter; premounted phono cartridge, built-in phono preamplifier.
Cons: Sounds decent enough but not up to audiophile standards; phono cartridge isn't replaceable.
I needed a new turntable to transcribe my 33-1/3 record album collection to CD. My 25-year old turntable had died and I didn't want to spend a lot for this one-time project. This turntable met my requiements. Nothing fancy, but able to do the job. A nicefeature is the built-in pre-amplifier. A necessity as modern tuner/amps do *not* have a phono-input.
