Product Rating: 5.00 star(s) Bright realism, fluid motion in 1080P.

Comments:
The Sony Bravia KDL52XBR4 has little to dislike. The clearest and most realistic display, with or without cable. (I get 13 digital and 30 analog w/ rabbit ears.) The remote control and menu system are very easy to use in setting up the TV. Plenty of inputs on rear to support any input or output device including your PC or MAC. If you have Sony Cameras, they interface wirelessly. Motion setting creates a natural and high precision movement to scenes which appear jerky on other brands of HDTVs.

QuickTake:

Pros: Many picture and wide viewing modes easy to access.
Cons: Only 3 HDMI inputs.

Product Rating: 4.15 star(s) Sony KDL-46XBR4

Comments:
Although not quite as impressive as the best plasmas, the 46-inch Sony KDL-46XBR4 outperforms any flat-panel LCD we've tested so far.

QuickTake:

Pros: Excellent black-level performance for an LCD; accurate color; 120Hz processing smooths judder in motion; fine screen uniformity and off-angle viewing for an LCD; numerous picture controls; solid connectivity with three HDMI inputs and one PC input; distin
Cons: Expensive; benefits of 120Hz blur-reduction hard to discern; smooth motion seems unnatural for film-based material and introduces some artifacts; main menu system kludgy to operate; many picture adjustments seem unnecessary and/or harmful.

Ultimate AV: Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR4 LCD Digital Color TV

Comments:
At $3,599 the KDL-46XBR4 is also considerably less expensive than the 46XBR2--a reflection on the continuing downward trend in flat panel prices. But the Sony is still a premium priced product in an increasingly competitive market. We're here to see if it...

UltimateAVmag.com: Sony KDL-52XBR4 LCD TV

Comments:
The Sony XBR4 series of LCD TVs is very well-regarded among reviewers and consumers alike. I've had the opportunity to closely examine the 46-inch member of this line, and I found it to be a stellar performer in most respects, as did Tom Norton in his rev...
Review Verdict:
Overall, I found the KDL-52XBR4 to be an excellent LCD TV. Detail is super-crisp (at least on HD content), color is right on the money, and shadow detail is better than most. Other than a slightly soft picture with standard-def material, my only real rese ...

QuickTake:

Pros: Razor-sharp detail on HD content, Gorgeous colors, Good shadow detail, capable
Cons: Elevated black level on most real-world content, Menu system could be better organized, 120Hz frame interpolation not the best I've seen, Standard-def content looked a bit softer than I've seen on other HDTVs

A couple of years ago Sony abandoned plasma and bet the farm on LCD, and since then the company has consistently produced the best-performing flat-panel LCDs available, at least according to our tests. Of course, we've always seen better picture quality i...

Although CNET did not review the 40-inch Sony KDL-40XBR4, we did review the 46-inch Sony KDL-46XBR4. Judging from their spec sheets, the two Sony flat-panel LCD HDTVs are identical but for screen size, so we expect the picture quality of the 46-inch model...

Product Rating: 4.00 star(s) The Best HDTVs

Comments:
No flat-panel LCD manufacturer does color better than Sony. By "doing color" I mean accurately displaying hues the way they are meant to be seen as defined by the HD spec. The Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR4 ($3,799.99 list) continues this tradition of accurate co...
Review Verdict:
As long as you stick with its movie or custom picture presets, the Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR4 delivers an impressively accurate HD picture that will make a handsome addition to your home theater. ...

QuickTake:

Pros: Excellent HD color when using "movie" picture preset. Superb contrast. 120-Hz display technology makes movies look great.
Cons: Default processing exaggerates video noise. Standard processing also degrades detection of 24p material. Image smearing increases when noise reduction is activated. Watch the Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR4 Video Review!
